Prepare for self-rescue

Southeast Expedition Medical hosts discounted wilderness first aid (WFA) classes for cavers, donating our time as volunteer to build up knowledge within our community. 

Get ready for an action-packed weekend! With special focus on injuries and illness common in caving, this course covers basic assessment and treatment skills where emergency assistance may not be readily available. This certification builds on the concepts of basic first aid and applies it to settings where environmental factors (such as heat or cold) can complicate treatment, extended treatment times may be required, and where improvisation is necessary due to limited resources. We take it to the next level, adding additional hours of realistic wilderness scenarios to reinforce knowledge learned during lecture. Offered in an INTENSIVE format, this 22-hour course is packed into 2 days with an optional Friday evening for those who need CPR certification.
